故事

The stories are there. You just need a way to hear them.

Your parent remembers the name of every neighbor on their childhood street. The sound of the morning market. The year they left home. But when you ask about it, you get the short version. Not because the memories are short — because there's never been a way to go deep.

Baohua exists because the stories your parents carry deserve to be told in full — in the language they think in, readable in the language you grew up in.

“I built Baohua because I wanted to hear my own parents' stories. They have so much to share. I just needed to find a way to ask.”

如何运作

Three simple steps. One meaningful story.

Choose a question

“Tell me about the house you grew up in.” Pick from prompts about childhood, the journey to a new country, favorite foods, or family traditions. Baohua sends it to your parent on WhatsApp — in Chinese.

A conversation unfolds

Your parent replies in Chinese on WhatsApp. A warm, patient AI asks follow-up questions: “What did it smell like? Who lived next door?” Over a few exchanges, the full story emerges. Text or voice, whatever feels natural.

The family reads a story

Within hours, a polished story arrives. Chinese original on one side. English translation on the other. The whole family can read it, comment, and ask follow-up questions that shape the next conversation.

真实故事

Here's what a story looks like.

A mother in Guangzhou told this story in Chinese. Her children read it in English. This is what Baohua creates from a simple WhatsApp conversation.

广州的老房子

The Old House in Guangzhou

Original ·

Translation · 翻譯

I grew up in an old house in Guangzhou. The house had a big courtyard with a longan tree. Every summer, we would climb the tree to pick longans. Life was simple back then, but very happy. The neighbors were friendly — they would often gather in the courtyard to chat and play chess. What I miss most is that longan tree, and the cool afternoons spent under its shade.

旅程

Stories that grow into a family treasure.

Baohua is not a one-time thing. It is a year-long conversation that becomes something the whole family can hold onto.

Week 1

The first story

A question goes out. A story comes back. The family reads it together, maybe for the first time hearing these details in a language everyone can understand.

Weekly

Stories keep coming

Every week, a new prompt draws out a different chapter. The journey to America. The foods that taste like home. How the family came together. Family members comment and ask follow-ups that shape the next conversation.

Over months

An archive takes shape

Siblings join. Stories connect to each other. The aunt mentioned in one story gets her own chapter later. A family history emerges, told in the storyteller's own voice.

The milestone

A bilingual family book

All the stories become a printed book. Chinese and English side by side, with QR codes that play the storyteller's original voice. A family heirloom that lasts for generations.
