過程

The Process

From a conversation to an heirloom.

Baohua is a year-long rhythm. One question each week, one story back, building into something the family can hold at the end of the year.

Week 1

The first story

A question goes out. A story comes back — sometimes a memory no one in the family has heard before.

Every week

A new chapter

Each week, a different question draws out a different part of their life. Childhood, first jobs, the foods they grew up eating, the family that came before them.

Over months

A life takes shape

Stories begin to connect. A name mentioned in passing becomes the subject of another chapter. Their voice finds its rhythm, and the whole arc of a life starts to emerge.

End of year

The book arrives

A year of stories, printed as a family keepsake — both languages side by side, one heirloom the family can hold.

這本書

The Book

The heirloom you hand down.

One year of your parent's stories, printed as a family book. Both languages, side by side.

An open hardcover book resting on parchment-colored linen, showing a bilingual family story with Chinese text on the left page and English translation on the right page, a small QR code in the corner.

“Baohua exists because I wanted to hear my own parents' stories.”

常見問題

FAQ

Questions families ask.

What is Baohua Stories?

Baohua Stories is a bilingual family storytelling service for Chinese American families. Parents answer a weekly question — by text or voice, in their own language — and the whole family reads the story in both Chinese and English. At the end of the year, the stories are printed as a family book.

How is Baohua Stories different from StoryWorth or Remento?

StoryWorth and Remento only work in English, which excludes immigrant parents who prefer their native language. Baohua Stories interviews parents in Chinese (or their preferred language), then delivers every story in both Chinese and English so the whole family can read along.

How does my parent reply each week?

Your parent replies to a weekly question in a simple chat — by text or voice, in their own language. The family receives the bilingual story back in both Chinese and English.

How much does Baohua Stories cost?

Baohua Stories is $99 per year. That covers weekly story prompts, bilingual story generation, unlimited family members reading along, and one printed family book per year.

What languages does Baohua Stories support?

Today, Baohua Stories is built for Chinese American families (Mandarin and Cantonese are supported on the input side; all stories are delivered in both Chinese and English). Support for additional immigrant family languages is on the roadmap.

Who built Baohua Stories?

Baohua Stories was built by Luke Lin, a first-generation Taiwanese American founder, as a way to hear his own parents' stories in full. It is operated by Moda Labs.
